Storytelling
Storytelling
Storytelling might be the most influential skill out there, everything you know comes from lived experience and stories. It’s a strange skill, someone can be incredible at one media but struggle with another. From a painting that tells a story without a word, to the salesman telling you how you need a product. It’s all the same, a story. The reason I put my potatoes in the fridge is because my Dida told me to, and my ability to get a job won’t come down to my experience but how well I can tell the story of my experience.
A common quote is “history is written by the winners” but it’s written by the best storytellers more, and more research has shown how dinosaurs look different to how first imagined, but that original story continues to be told.
Wars aren’t won through manpower and strategy, they are won through telling the story to get people to fight, or becoming increasingly persistent and stopping people from wanting to fight as propaganda makes fighting feel more and more hopeless.
It’s easy to over simplify a topic. Steroids came in so many forms, is a TikTok and book the same thing? Or does one just have more influence over you? Over the past few months I have consumed so much media and think outside of friends and family, music resonates most with its storytelling and influence on my mood and decision making.
